Root canal treatment or extraction?
When a tooth is badly damaged, there are two options. Our priority: keeping your natural tooth whenever possible.
Why keep the tooth
A natural tooth, even after root canal treatment, remains the best solution: it preserves the alignment of your teeth, your ability to chew and the bone around the root. Root canal treatment can often save a tooth that was thought to be lost.
When extraction is necessary
When a tooth is too decayed, fractured deep down or impossible to treat, extraction becomes necessary. Replacement options are then available: a crown on an implant, a bridge or a denture.
Dr Coucke assesses each situation and explains the options to you before any decision is made.
