Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions our patients ask most often.

What is endodontics?

Endodontics is the speciality that treats the inside of the tooth: the pulp and root canals. It saves an infected or damaged tooth instead of extracting it.

Is a root canal painful?

No. The treatment is done under local anaesthetic: you feel no pain during it. On the contrary, it relieves the pain caused by the infection.

Why is the treatment done under a microscope?

The surgical microscope provides magnification and lighting that let us see and clean the canals with a precision impossible with the naked eye. It's a guarantee of quality and durability.

How many sessions are needed?

Depending on the tooth and complexity, treatment takes one to two sessions. Dr Coucke will tell you after the diagnosis.
